Pretense in the Hebrew means ''falsely, in vain, not done in truth.''  I believe there's alot of false repentence in the American church today.  There are many altar calls, but few deep, inward changes taking place.  There is alot of talk about God sending revival, yet nobody gets into the secret closet to plead with God to revive themselves.  Revival in actuality is a people turning back whole-heartedly to loving Jesus and a willingness to do whatever He tells them to do whatever the cost.  That's what we see in Acts.  Repentence and revival in Acts wasn't just a constant discussion.  It wasn't just emotional services.  It was a deep, inward stirring in their souls that caused them to turn away from the world and unto Jesus with their everything.   There was no agenda, no selfish purposes, no thoughts of anything else except pleasing God and seeing Him glorified.  Yet what's happening today is people are turning to God outwardly, and there is no inward passion to know Him, seek Him and love Him when they're on their own.  Revival will not happen til we become a secret people.  God desires truth from the innermost being.  Jesus says in Matthew 6 not to do our deeds to be seen by men.  God wants a people hidden away with Him.  Corporate crying out is important, but it is all done in vain if in the secret of our hearts there is no true hunger to know Jesus. God says that when it's done in secret unto Him, He will bring reward in the open.  Isaiah 26:8-9 says ''The desire of our SOUL (or inward man) is for Your name, and the remembrance of You.  With my SOUL I have desired You in the night.  Yes by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.''  O Lord, may we become a people hidden away with you.  Imagine the power of a corporate time when everyone comes bringing their intimate walk with Jesus to the mix.  God will truly be glorified in their midst.  This has to be the great need of the hour.  As Daniel said, those who KNOW their God will do exploits.  So be it Lord.
